About Mount Erebus
Southernmost active volcano on Earth. Contains one of the few persistent lava lakes. Emits crystal bombs of anorthoclase feldspar. Air New Zealand Flight 901 crashed into it in 1979 killing 257. Internal temp 1000 C while surface is -60 C.
